Tonight, Carter’s Kindergarten class performed  a Thanksgiving Program at the PTA meeting.  He was a cute little indian.  He did have one line…..”Do you know what happened on the first Thanksgiving?  We do.” So cute!!

THE MORROW FAMILY - Wow…ya'll are on the ball! I'm wanting to get my tree up soon, too. 🙂 I take it that you're feeling okay. I hope so. I've been meaning to check on you all week. By the way, I love the picture of your kids at the top!ReplyCancel

Bowerman Blessed - Love the new blog look. Adorable. I am ready for mine. The picture of the kids is amazing. Love the pics of your tree outside and the lightsReplyCancel

I bought this little hat and flower for Caley a while back and thought it might be cute to take some pictures with.  Too bad she hates it!!!  She really is a good sport with pictures though.  I get more time with her during the week so she always seems to be my little guinea […]

McKinney Madness - Ooh, that's a tough one. Maybe the tooth fairy doubles the money on certain days of the week?!?!ReplyCancel

  • November 5, 2009 - 10:09 pm

mandy - Because those kids are spoiled rotten, that's why!! …Leave a note telling the tooth fairy that the Busby's only will allow their children to receive no more than __ amount. The fairy may donate the rest to her charity of choice!ReplyCancel

  • November 5, 2009 - 10:18 pm

    A - I like Mandy's idea re:charity! I never got $10 as a kid– you'd go broke fast!ReplyCancel

  • November 6, 2009 - 4:35 am

The HoneaBees - Tell them that the other kids' teeth are made of gold and that's why they are worth more. Maybe one day they will have a golden tooth, but until then, they just have to settle for what the fairy gives them.ReplyCancel

  • November 6, 2009 - 2:49 pm

Holly - Hey Brooke! Your blog is super cute.
We had this same problem… which I think is insane! The first time the fairy came to our house, she left a note saying $1 would be awarded for teeth that met her standards. All others would only get a quarter. This helps from time to time with brushing issues at bedtime. But, when Lucy went to school bragging that she got $1, she learned that was low… We told her, and we do the same with kids who get WAY TOO MUCH from Santa, that all of those characters have our cell numbers and they call and discuss with us what we think is fair. And since we're trying not to be greedy, that's the limit we set for her. Though, I do LOVE the charity idea above.

At first I was worried she may go back and tell the kids that their parents are greedy… but truth is, they're spoiling their kids rotten, so whatever. Truth hurts! 🙂 I don't mean to sound so petty, but it does drive me crazy. Our kids are way to young to even appreciate it.

Oh, by the way, this is Holly Maynard Hudson.
Love your blog and all the stuff you and Paige are making! Too cute. Take care!ReplyCancel

  • November 6, 2009 - 3:01 pm

THE MORROW FAMILY - $10…that's crazy! I don't care even if you have the money…kids don't need that much for a lost tooth. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • November 6, 2009 - 3:10 pm

one BleSSed gal! - At our house, the tooth fairy always leaves different amounts. {That way she doesn't have to make a midnight fly-by to the ATM!} We just always say that the tooth fairy has a certain amount that she has to evenly divide amongst all the children that she visits that night…I'm quite sure she's all about fairness! So I guess my kids are always hoping no one else in the world will lose a tooth that day =)ReplyCancel

  • November 8, 2009 - 5:19 am

Sunny - Love the picture of Caley! That hat is ADORABLE!!!

I never really thought about the tooth fairy being compared to others at school. When our kids start losing teeth, I think that the fairy would be crazy to give $10!!! Best of luck with that one. You'll definitely have to let us know what you figure out.ReplyCancel

  • November 9, 2009 - 5:23 pm

jasonbybee - Tell them the exchange rate is higher in certain areas where the Tooth Fairy travels. Or the cash value is determined by bone density or something. Or you could just hand them an Economics textbook and say, "I don't know. You guys figure it out."

I realize none of this is helpful….ReplyCancel

  • November 10, 2009 - 5:37 am

Amie - When my 6 year old lost his first tooth-he was bragging to his cousins..his cousins remark was "gosh I hope you don't have the same tooth fairy as I so" come to find out his tooth fairy always FORGETS to stop by his house! Good luck with this whole thing-someday they will be grateful they got anything (I hope)..I also LOVE you scraping blog-thanks for sharing:)ReplyCancel

Hillary @ The Other Mama - The hat is ADORABLE and your photography and effects are awesome, too! Of course, none would be nearly as cute without your beautiful subject there!
And for the tooth fairy, you have GOT to be kidding me! I think our tooth fairy MAYBE brought a dollar. But my favorite was when I lost a tooth late one night before bed and my tooth fairy brought me an IOU… in my dad's handwriting. 🙂ReplyCancel

If you need to get caught up on Part 1….go here first. I have a couple of warnings.  First of all…this is a long post and it’s the most I’ve ever written on my blog. Secondly, I apologize in advance for my poor literacy skills.  I’m not a writer but what I have to say does come from […]

Cortney - These pictures are phenomenal! I never would have thought to take a picture of the shag carpet or the doll that gave you nightmares!! That thing really is freaky, isn't it? Once again, you did such an awesome job taking pictures this past weekend. I was planning to post about this weekend but I think I'll just make a link to your blog instead… there's no way I could say it any better than you. I love you and am so thankful for our memories we share together at Grandmother and Grandaddy's house!ReplyCancel

The HoneaBees - Brooke-you are so lucky to be going through all of this stuff with your grandmother still here. I think it is awesome that she can tell you about each of the things and show you her life. That is so special. It is something I wish I had everyday. We will be going through my grandparent's stuff soon without them. And I can't wait for all of the treasures I will find, but would rather have them instead.
    Good post! Awesome heritage!!!ReplyCancel

one BleSSed gal! - Beautiful. This may be my favorite post EVER! I am so glad that you shared, especially your Grandfather's Bible. No doubt that he would be so proud to see the people that you, your brother & sister have become! And he would be so pleased to know that his prayers were answered that you all married wonderful godly people, but it looks like he prayed in faith & already knew that you all would =)ReplyCancel

Scarlett - Brooke, these pictures and memories were so nice to look at–and I don't even know your Grandmother! What a great way to capture all the memories! Reading these stories have made me stop and think about when I was a child at my grandparents' house. Oh,and we actually keep Octagon soap at our house because it gets rid of John's poison ivy! HA! I can only find it at Big Star! LOL!ReplyCancel

This is PART 1 of a ton of pictures that I have to share from this past weekend.  My grandmother Johnson (my mom’s mom) is moving to Florence to live closer to all of her family.  It’s really bitter-sweet.  I will talk more on this in my next post but it’s a huge deal because she’s […]

Stacy - I loved looking back at your pictures! I loved hearing about all your favorite memories. I remember going to Tennessee in the summers…not the same as your place, but I know how special memories are! I'm glad your kids got to spend some time there, and that you are writing about it so one day they can look back and 'remember' what they can't really remember!ReplyCancel

one BleSSed gal! - This is a beautiful post, Brooke. Takes me back to lots of childhood memories from my grandparents' farm. As I read this, I stopped & said a prayer for your grandmother. Well, it turned out to be a pretty good Halloween this year.  I was very worried it was gonna be a rainy night for trick-or-treating but it actually turned out perfect.  A little chilly, but nothing to complain about. Camden….an alien.  Caley….Minnie Mouse.  Carter….Darth Vader. I’m pretty sure this was a repeat costume from last […]
